How can we help?
No matter what side of the law you are on, navigating the justice system can be intimidating and overwhelming, even when it isn’t your first time being there!
At SCALES, our Lawyers and Legal Students can provide you with advice and information when you may be:
- Suspected of committing a crime and police want to speak to you,
- Charged with a traffic offence; drink driving, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified,
- Charged with a criminal offence; trespass, disorderly conduct, stealing, robbery, criminal damage, serious assaults,
- Victim of an offence,
- Witness to an offence.
We can make sure you know:
- your rights and obligations when police are questioning you,
- how your matters will progress through the justice system,
- how the law relates to your matters, and
- what the outcome may be if there is a conviction.
The information and advice we can provide is not limited only to the lists above, these are just some examples. In some situations, we may be able to provide some assistance in the Magistrates Court, speak to police or provide referrals to other appropriate agencies that may be able to assist.
